We didn’t really know what this was going to amount to, since Inc. was not involved at the time the series was getting up and running. However the team behind this series are hustlers themselves so there was no surprise when Inc. took it on.
There were even a few weeks that my name was on the front page of inc.com. I couldn’t stop refreshing the page on my computer I was so excited.
In my quest to get noticed by the world and promote my company, this was one of those sit back and smile moments. However it is also like a drug, once I got this I wanted more. One of my personal strengths is also a key weakness. I’m always demanding more of myself, to keep bettering myself. Something like this is going to be really difficult to beat. It’s a nice benchmark to now shoot for though!
Check out the video here and let me know what you think!
Ok after almost 6 years of busting my ass in real estate I’ve learned a lot. Real good information from just random life lessons to the ins and outs of Chicago’s ever changing real estate market. Owning a company for 4 years brought a wealth of knowledge that has grown me to new heights as an individual and professional.
However there is a riddle that I can’t break. A real estate riddle that has plagued me since my first day on the job. No matter how well I do, how much I sell and awards I get the riddle remains unbroken.
How do you achieve rock star status?!
I don’t get it. I’m not talking about simple branding here. I’ve done well with personal brand growth and achieving a “guy that does real estate” status. I’m talking about rock star status. I’m talking about that celebrity, Miley Cyrus – Kim Kardashian – Kanye West, status.
Right now you’re thinking I’m an idiot, I appreciate that. Let me explain.
I’m not a fan of these celebrities for their antics and drama. I don’t read about the baby mama drama and who was in who’s month last week. I’m a fan of their marketing genius. Its either the celebrities brains or their PR team but the kind of reaction they are able to receive is one of a kind. Only they can inspire the general public to have full on heated debates with each other. How many open letters did Miley Cyrus receive after her last few months of antics. While so many people were mad and appalled I was in the background applauding her efforts. She had a new CD coming out that instantly rose to the top of the charts and is now on almost every magazine cover. AMAZING!
Ok so what am I getting at? My ever running quest for this type of reaction is driving me nuts. Marketing/Branding is a passion of mine. Consumer behavior is so interesting to me. I see real estate agents try all sorts of marketing tricks to set themselves a part from the rest. Everything from featuring full spread page advertisements in the trendiest of magazines to billboard messages all across our city.
Sure those efforts get calls but not the type of wildfire response that gets people talking about you. That’s what I’m looking for! I’m looking for those marketing efforts that get people talking about you and what you do. Think about it. Name the top 3 most famous real estate agents you can think of from the top of your head….Trump….the guys from Million Dollar listing….not that many. Why are these the agents that you can remember? It’s because they have that gift of instilling emotional reactions in consumers. Yes TV is the platform that launched them but with the social media age upon us I am confident it is possible to grow such a brand organically.
I will do it!
I will keep searching for the Miley Cyrus level reaction. However for now my riddle remains unsolved…
